Surtees 575 Pro Fisher Review - NZ Fishing News

It took brothers Jeremy Coombes and Al Brown 12 months to find a boat that suited their needs. The award winning Surtees 575 Pro Fisher was the answer.

‘Jeremy and Al are keen lure fishers, including soft-baits, jigs and top water, but salt-fly fishing in particular. Consequently, their boating needs were quite specific, with their vessel having to: provide a stable casting platform; have topsides that were as low-profile and fly-fishing friendly as possible (with nothing to catch fly-lines on) and incorporate a layout allowing them to follow hooked fish around. They also needed a boat that would get them to the grounds quickly and in relative comfort, possess a good fuel range for multi-day trips away, and be easy to tow.’

Jeremy commented 'We approached Surtees with a fishing boat concept that was a little outside the square as far as New Zealand boats are concerned. We wanted a roomy, snag free fishing platform for chasing kingis inshore on salt water fly as well as the capability to comfortably run offshore (and home again ) chasing workups in the Hauraki Gulf or tuna off the West Coast when conditions are right. Surtees totally nailed the brief - the finish and layout of our 575 Profisher exceeded our expectations!'

Judges at the 2017 Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show named Al Brown’s 575 Pro Fisher winner of the best ‘Specialist Fishing Boat Up To 6m’ award category. Scoring over 50 points ahead of its nearest competition, the 575 Pro Fisher didn’t only win the judges over but also gained a huge amount of interest from the public at the show.

Grant Dixon from New Zealand Fishing News spent a morning fishing with the boys, checking out what they and the Surtees team had created.
