So, with the tough New Zealand fishing critic in mind, where better to design and build a boat than right here at home in New Zealand by a team of passionate fishermen and engineers. Surtees Boats was born during the early 1990’s when Neil Surtees decided to design and build himself an aluminum boat to use for fishing off the Whakatane Coast.
When local people saw the way that the finished product looked and performed it wasn’t long before Neil had more orders than he could cope with. As Neil started making more and more boats, word quickly spread about these boats that were built to fish and the business continued to grow. Surtees now employs over 50 highly trained staff and their boats are New Zealand’s top selling plate aluminum boat. Surtees Boats have proven to be incredibly popular and are recognized by fishermen all over the world for their quality, safety, stability and practical features. Surtees really are Built to Fish.

I have recently bought a Surtees 540 and what amazing service I had from start to finish.
I was on a tight budget and Isabell helped me make it work, we sat down looking at what I could afford and what would be easiest to add later on all within my budget. While the boat was being built I had lots of questions and Isabell always picked up the phone and answered any questions I had. Also while the boat was being built I was shown photos of the process from start to finish! This was very exciting! Not only was it a great service but the boat was built a month before the date it was scheduled! And this gave me the opportunity to take it out on the long weekend. I was also helped with insurance for my boat that got me out on the water quicker. I have to say Surtees are an amazing team that made my dreams come true. So stoked with my new 650 Game Fisher. I ended up dealing direct with Surtees and I can only say it was an awesome experience.
