Fishing Competition
Entries are now open!
Our 20th Annual Fishing Competition will take place back home in Whakatane with briefing on Thursday 27th February and fishing from the 28th of February to the 1st of March 2025. We are looking forward to seeing you there for a couple of great days of fishing, a few drinks and some of the best prizes yet! Thanks to an incredible group of sponsors we have an outstanding prize pool valued at $80k and we can’t wait to share it with you, our anglers.
We are excited to continue to support our fisheries and the competition remains “measure and release”, though it is up to you if you want to keep your catch or set it free for a few more years in the ocean. We have also moved our entry mechanism to the Daiwa NZ app, which is easy to navigate and user-friendly, as well as allowing you to enter as many fish as you like!

Friday 7.37 am Saturday 8.27am
START TIME
6.00am Friday 28th February 2025. All fish submitted in this competition must have been caught from a Surtees boat.
VENUE
Whakatane Sportfishing Club located on Muriwai Drive Whakatane
REGISTRATION & ENTRY FEE
This year we will have a maximum of 300 anglers. Early entries registered and paid before the 29/11/2024 go into an early bird prize draw. Entries close on the 31/01/2025 or when 300 anglers are reached. Entry fee is $110 per person and includes a roast meal dinner at the Club on Saturday night, a T-Shirt, Goodie Bag, and an invitation to our after party with live music and a custom Surtees Cocktail included. After Party
Join us after Prize Giving to celebrate 20 Years of Surtees Fishing Competitions in style! We will have live music, and the Whakatane Sportfishing Club have created our very own Surtees cocktail.
