We had a great turnout at our 19th Surtees annual Fishing Competition! 270 anglers and over 79 boats went out of Whakatane on the first weekend in March and enjoyed a great time together.
For the first time since 2019 we were hosted by the Whakatane Sport Fishing Club – the bar behaved, the weather was fishable and the Prizes stacked up to the amazing amount of over $78,000.
The largest Kingfish was an impressive 117cm, whilst the winning Trevally measured 58cm! Even with some harsh conditions on the first day, most anglers sent in some fish and had a great time.
We are already looking forward to the 20th annual Fishing Competition – back in Whakatane February 28th-March 1st 2025.
